We started out using this app out of two needs. Download speeds weren’t the fastest, so any space we could save without compromising quality was a win. And, over-all site speed was a concern to us.
Fast forward several years, downloads speeds have increased and so has the desire for images (especially the rise in PNG files). And for anybody working with PNG files you know the compression, is not the greatest…to say the least. That’s where this little app really shines. Using a technique they call “quantization”. They reduce the number of colors, and strip all unnecessary metadata out of the image. What is left, is a greatly reduced file size image, without sacrificing any quality or detail. In my book, that is a win, win. And, I dare you to try to distinguish the difference between the two.
Check it out for yourself. It’s good to see such a tiny app be so big.
